It came, it surprised and it created a huge impression. That could well be the way to describe the superhit run of Pushpa (Hindi) which has now completed four weeks at the box office. The film grew from strength to strength for the first three weeks and made everyone sit up and take notice of the kind of euphoria that it generated at the single screens. The trend could well have continued right into the fourth week as well but then theatres started closing shop again and hence there was a sudden decline in footfalls in the fourth week.
Nonetheless, the film has already accumulated Rs. 84 crores* and today the collections should seem some sort of upswing again due to festive season. In fact one wonders how high the jump would have been for the film if the situation was normal since it could well have been an extended four day weekend, courtesy the festive season which had kick-started yesterday itself. Just the four day collections would have comfortably taken the film past the Rs. 100 crores mark.
However that won’t happen now and while the film will cross Rs. 90 crores milestone that would be it. Still, rest assured, as and when the sequel of the Allu Arjun starrer is released, the film will take a bumper opening in south as well as Hindi languages and guarantee an instant success.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
