ISLAMABAD – Since negotiations are underway between government and detained TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi, the opposition wants the government to take Parliament into confidence about current situation by calling a National Assembly session. The opposition may submit requisition in the National Assembly Secretariat, compelling the speaker to immediately summon the session and take the Parliament into confidence on it, background discussion with the opposition members revealed. According to schedule mentioned in the parliamentary calendar the government would summon the National Assembly session by the mid of November. However, the government side would summon legislation-specific joint session of the Parliament before the National Assembly session. Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in a fast changing scenario, had remarked that negotiations were underway between the government and detained TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi on ending the proscribed group’s march to Islamabad. The minister said the govt wanted to ‘amicably’ resolve the matter of the protest march, which has disrupted life in several Punjab cities for two weeks. It may also be noted here that the National Security Committee (NSC) has decided not to tolerate any further break of law by proscribed TLP.
