ISLAMABAD – The main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has allegedly failed to provide evidences of funds it received in form of donations to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) scrutiny committee.
A source, privy to the development said that PML-N has received over Rs 450 million rupees funds in form of donations back in 2013-14.
It must be noted that on Wednesday in an in-camera meeting of the scrutiny committee of ECP chaired by Deputy Director Law was held to review the financial accounts of the PML-N.
The PML-N lawyer Jahangir Jadoon appeared before the committee. Meanwhile, Najam ul-Saqib and Jamal Abdul Nasser who are the financial experts of ruling party took part in the meeting.
Furthermore, the sources revealed that PML-N has also failed to provide the details of their five bank accounts, which the scrutiny committee had asked for.
During the hearing of the committee, PTI representatives had claimed that cheques of over Rs 450 million which PML-N received were yet to be cross checked.
It is important to mention here that ECP earlier had allowed the PTI to get access to the accounts related documents of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
It is worth mentioning here that the PTI leader and Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib had submitted the plea with ECP seeking access to the accounts documents PPP and PML-N.
