Jones has maintained his innocence, but Howell’s family says he is the person who killed their loved one. All eyes are now on Stitt, awaiting his decision on whether to grant Jones clemency. Jones’ mother also went to the state Capitol earlier this week in hopes of meeting with Stitt, but he has not responded to the requests to meet. The governor, however, has met with lawyers for Jones and Howell’s family. Howell’s family has asked the governor to allow the execution to proceed.

He is scheduled to be executed Thursday for the 1999 murder of Edmond businessman Paul Howell. Jones has maintained his innocence, but Howell’s family says he is the person who killed their loved one.
All eyes are now on Stitt, awaiting his decision on whether to grant Jones clemency. If he doesn’t grant clemency, Jones will be executed Thursday.
