An inmate escaped Webster County jail around 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. Police say the inmate, 43-year-old Jordan Mefferd of Fort Dodge, escaped through a third story window using sheeting to climb down into an alley. Officers learned Mefferd was likely in a silver car after his escape. Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday the silver car was spotted in Otho. When an officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver took off. Officers pursued the vehicle while Fort Dodge police used stop sticks which punctured the driver’s tires. A slow speed pursuit ended on South 14th Street with two suspects taken into custody without incident. Mefferd is facing felony eluding and felony escape charges. Destiny Sumpter, 27, is charged with violation of probation and aiding and abetting felony escape.The Webster County Sheriff’s office is continuing their investigation in this case.
