BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Police are responding to a report of shots fired just before midnight on Friday in downtown Blacksburg, authorities said.
Virginia Tech has been placed on lockdown, the university said in a post on Twitter warning residents to stay indoors.
The Virginia Tech Police Department deferred calls from The Associated Press to the Blacksburg Police Department, but said the shooting was not on campus. Blacksburg Police declined to comment on the shooting.
No details have been released on a location or potential suspect. It is unclear if any injuries were reported.
