ISLAMABAD – Pakistan reported 2,512 new cases of coronavirus during the past 24 hours, taking the tally for confirmed cases to 1,221,261. At least 63 more fatalities were also reported during the period. A total of 27,135 patients have succumbed to the virus in the country so far. Moreover, 3,610 recoveries were also reported in a day, taking the total recoveries to 1,129,562. Punjab reported 1,192 Covid cases and 20 more deaths due to the virus during the past 24 hours. According to the officials, five deaths were reported in Lahore during the period. Active cases in Punjab stood at 22,908 while the tally of the positive cases in the province stood at 420,616. The total number of deaths in the province due to the virus is currently at the 12,363 mark. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 347 coronavirus cases and 20 deaths over the past 24 hours. The province’s infection tally now stands at 170,738 and death toll has risen to 5,374. Meanwhile, 15 new cases in Balochistan have taken its infection tally to 32,722. No coronavirus-related fatalities have been recorded in the province during the last 24 hours and the death toll remains 344. Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan collectively reported 267 coronavirus cases and four deaths during the last 24 hours.
