LAHORE – The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed three private members’ bills and as many resolutions with most important being about the Finality of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The three bills passed by the House included the University of South Asia, Lahore (Amendment) Bill, 2021; the Institute of Management and Applied Sciences Khanewal Bill, 2021 and the Aspire University Lahore Bill, 2021.
Also, the House adopted a resolution paying rich tributes to veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani for his relentless struggle for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. Two other resolutions were also adopted by the Assembly demanding of the government to ensure display of Quranic verses and Hadith regarding Finality of Prophethood in the government offices and take welfare steps for transgender persons. The House rejected three resolutions while four were withdrawn by the movers. Two resolutions were not taken up due to mover’s absence while one was deferred on the request of the relevant minister.
Speaker directs govt to implement resolution immediately
Following passage of the resolution regarding posting of Quranic verses and hadiths about Khatm-e-Nubuwwat in golden letters in all government offices and district boundaries, Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi directed Law Minister Raja Basharat to talk to the Chief Minister of Punjab to implement the decision of the House immediately. He said that this was a historic work and Allah Almighty will reward it for its implementation. Ch Parvez Elahi said that he paid homage to the Sindh Assembly and the Chief Minister of Sindh for immediately posting Quranic verses and hadiths related to Khatm-e-Nubuwwat in government offices.
Earlier, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Provincial Minister for Minerals, while presenting the resolution said: “This House is thankful to Allah Almighty for the blessing that Verse No. 40 and Hadith Mubarakah with reference to Abu Dawud Hadith No. 4,252 and Hadith No. 2,219 of Tirmidhi Sharif have been embellished in golden letters with translation. The last prophet of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah said, “Soon there will be thirty false antichrists in my Ummah. Each of them will claim that he is a prophet even though I am the last Prophet and there will be no prophet after me.” The resolution demanded of the Punjab government that this complete verse of the Holy Quran and complete hadiths regarding Khatm-e-Nubuwwat should be transcribed and displayed in golden letters in all government offices and district boundaries of Punjab. The resolution was passed unanimously.
During the session, Parliamentary Secretary Sajid Ahmad Khan Bhatti expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Syed Ali Geelani in the Indian custody. The resolution said that Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was a fearless and sincere leader who always raised voice of Kashmiris’ rights and effectively presented Kashmir’s struggle for independence before the world.
The resolution paid tribute to Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his everlasting struggle for the right to self-determination. “The House recognises Syed Ali Shah Geelani as the leader who raised slogan in occupied Kashmir that “We are Pakistanis and Pakistan is ours”.
The resolution demanded that the United Nations and international human rights organizations use their influence on the Indian government to stop the atrocities against Kashmiris.
