LAHORE:
The World Military Shooting Championship 2021 has begun in Lahore, with more than 50 international shooters participating in the event, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
“Opening ceremony of 53rd World Military Shooting Championship (Shotgun) 2021 was held at Lahore today under the auspices of Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), commonly known as International Military Sports Council,” the military’s media wing added.
“More than 50 participants including 41 international shooters from Russia, France, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Kenya are participating in the event with motto FRIENDSHIP THROUGH SPORTS,” the ISPR statement said, adding that officials from Guinea, Iran and Nepal will be a part of the event.
The CISM international shooting championship is being organised at Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery of the Pakistan Army.
The communique further stated that, “Corps Commander Lahore, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz was the chief guest at the ceremony.

“Representatives of CISM, large number of dignitaries, diplomats and spectators witnessed the colourful and impressive opening ceremony,” the ISPR maintained.
According to the statement, this was the second time that Pakistan was holding the international military championship. The contest will continue till October 9, 2021 at Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery featuring various shot gun shooting events including trap and skeet shooting for both men and women.
In March this year, the fourth International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition-2021 was organised at the National Counter-Terrorism Center in Pabbi near Kharian.
According to the ISPR, eight domestic teams of the Pakistan Army along with teams from eight allied countries participated in the competition.
It had further stated that teams from Jordan, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Uzbekistan took part as participants whereas Morocco, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan participated as observers in this three-day-long competition.
The competition was designed to test tactical skills in physical and professional domains as well as the agility of the participating teams to generate responses in challenging real-time field scenarios.
