John Abraham’s action packed thriller, Attack, which sees him play the role of a super soldier has taken a dull start at the box office. According to estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 2.85 to 3.15 crore, which is even below the conservative prediction of Rs. 5 crore plus day one.

The movie had nothing going in its favour on day one, as it was flat all throughout the day. Given the slow start, one hoped for Attack to jump towards evening and night shows, but the film refused to show any jump across the board – be it single screens or multiplexes. An action film should have taken a better start, but now the film needs to show miraculous trend on the weekend to have a chance to safeguard itself from emerging a complete disaster.

The first step for Attack will be to go past the lifetime collections of last two John Abraham films, Mumbai Saga and Satyameva Jayate 2, and it’s only after that would one speak about it getting above the Rs. 20 crore net mark. A growth on Saturday and Sunday will give positive signs, but we are living in times when a good film begins to show signs by Friday evening itself. But that has not happened, which is an indication of hazy days for Attack at the box office.

The opening is more or less similar to last two John films – Mumbai Saga and Satyameva Jayate 2. Attack on the other hand had some interest due to sleek show of action in the promos. It would be interesting to see the path Attack goes on Saturday and Sunday
