Badhaai Do stayed low in its first week as Rs. 12.60 crores came in. The start of the film was on expected lines when Rs. 1.65 crores came in on Friday and though growth was there on the second day (Rs. 2.72 crores), it should ideally have been double of the first day. Sunday was good at Rs. 3.45 crores and that gave indications of good hold on Monday. That turned out to be the case as well but now it seems that Rs. 1.85 crores which came in was more due to Valentine’s Day and not as much for the overall content per se.
This was seen on the rest of the weekdays when collections started dipping. Tuesday was Rs. 1.12 crores, Wednesday was at Rs. 1 crore and now Thursday has further fallen to Rs. 0.81 crores, which is not a good sign. Ideally, with no competition today, the collections should be at least Rs. 0.75 crores. Anything lesser than that and one can’t expect much of an upswing during the remaining weekend.
Still, let’s take some positives out of this. At least a film has released in 2022 and found some footfalls. From here, the onus is on Gangubai Kathiawadi and other films to do the trick.
