It was a very good opening for Marvel’s yet another offering, Black Panther – Wakanda Forever. Just like Black Adam, this one too arrived with hardly any promotion or marketing, and still caught fancy amongst the audience. It is quite clear that Marvel has now established itself quite well in the Indian markets and as long as there are films coming from their set superhero universe, audiences would grab it up at least in the opening weekend and then the content will take over.

This has happened with this latest offering as well which has bagged a very good total of Rs. 12.50 crores* on the first day. Of course, Marvel films have done bigger business as well but then Black Panther is a superhero character that’s still building base globally and hence even a double digit opening is quite good, especially on today’s times when nothing is really working at the box office.

Meanwhile Uunchai has sone decent business in the first day. It has fetched Rs. 1.81 crores at the box office and though as an absolute number it is not much, especially given the credentials (Sooraj Barjatya, Amitabh Bachchan), from the relative standpoint this is good because there are hardly any films which have got into this range in 2022. Moreover, the film has released on a restricted count of screens so at least there was good occupancy seen especially in the evening and night shows. However all of that would be beneficial if there is growth evidenced now from today onwards. As long as that happens, the idea to give the film a relatively sparse release would be worth it.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
