Back in 2013 when Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had released, it had scored a massive Rs. 188.92 crores at the box office. The film was a bonafide blockbuster at the box office and today its team of producer Karan Johar, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor and director Ayan Mukherji was returning with Bollywood’s most ambitious film ever, Brahmastra. So why the reference? Well, Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has now released and it could well be surpassing that biggie if the momentum continues like this.

Though at one point in time it seemed like Rs. 125 crores+ would be a great total for the film, the extraordinary hold during the second week made it a Rs. 150 crores bet. However, post that none of the other Bollywood releases could succeed and that has allowed it to sprint to the Rs. 175 crores mark, which would have been an unbelievable dream back at the time of release. However, what’s all the more remarkable is that the drop from third to fourth week is minimal, which means the film will continue to run uninterrupted even in the fifth week as well and allow a total of Rs. 185 crores to be accumulated with ease.

However, what would be truly exciting is its journey from Rs. 185 crores to Rs. 190 crores. That would be done with lower numbers trickling in since JugJugg Jeeyo would have been released by then. However, if the film manages to get even a reasonable count of screens for itself and gains a 2–3-week additional run, then it could first go past Bajirao Mastani and then even Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. That was a solo biggie by Ranbir Kapoor and for Kartik Aaryan to surpass that milestone with a film that has been made at half the budget, it would indeed be a major high.
