Let’s look at the positive side of affairs. For exhibitors, it was finally good news after a really long time as around Rs. 25 crores came in just from the Hindi releases. When it seemed all depressing till am month ago when there was so much uncertainty around whether audiences will indeed flock theatres, things have started looking so much better in quickest possible time, what with overall occupancy increasing by leaps and bounds with houseful signs being back at number of properties.

While Gangubai Kathiawadi led from the front for the last couple of weeks, it’s The Kashmir Files which has picked the mantle this weekend. The film continued to grow tremendously with every passing day and Sunday was simply mind-blowing with Rs. 15.10 crores more coming in. Occupancy is 100% across so many properties since screens and shows are still being increased, as we talk. With Rs. 27.15 crores in its kitty already, the Vivek Agnihotri film has crossed the lifetime of his last release The Tashkent Files [Rs. 18 crores] in just two and a half days.

As for Gangubai Kathiawadi, it is continuing to find audiences as well, though it may well have added a few more crores if not for competition from The Kashmir Files and screens been lost to Radhe Shyam. The film brought in Rs. 5.25 crores* more on Sunday, which is quite good, and with that its total stands at Rs. 117.64 crores*. With that, the film has crossed the lifetime of Alia Bhatt starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania [Rs. 116.60 crores] in mere 17 days. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada production is a bonafide hit.

Same can’t be said about Radhe Shyam though, the Hindi version of which is just not performing. On Sunday too, the collections were flat at Rs. 5 crores* and as a result the weekend stands at Rs. 14.50 crores*. From here, the collections are bound to further dip over the weekdays, and the film could well turn out to be a one-week affair at least in the Hindi version.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
