ISLAMABAD – The newly-elected office-bearers and President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Ahsan Bhoon Thursday assumed charge of their office.
In a simple and graceful ceremony, former president of SCBA Lala Abdul Latif Afridi handed over the charge of the office to the newly-elected President Ahsan Bhoon and Secretary Wasmim Mumtaz.
On this occasion, Bhoon said that he would not disappoint the bar and would make all out efforts to work as per their wishes. He remarked that it was not his victory rather it was the victory of the whole community.
In the recent elections of the SCBA, Bhoon bagged 1,546 votes, while his rival candidate Sardar Latif Khan Khosa of the Hamid Khan Group got 920 votes. Bhoon defeated Khosa with a big margin of 626 votes. SCBA’s secretary slot was also won by Asma Jahangir Group’s candidate Waseem Mumtaz Malik by securing 1,078 votes.
In this regard, the election commission has issued the notification of successful candidates. As per the notification, Vice President Balochistan Muhammad Qasim Khan (1366 votes), Vice President KP Saleemullah Khan (1196), Vice President Khawar Ikram (1031) were elected while the election commissioner stopped the results for Vice President Sindh ordering recounting of votes of Lahore polling station. The notification said that Additional Secretary Riasat Ali (1241 votes) and Finance Secretary Shehnaz Akhtar (1441) were also elected.
For Member Executive Balochistan Adbul Maalik Baloch and Syed Muhammad Tahir secured 1379 and 1235 votes respectively, for Member Executive KP Abid Ali (1436 votes) and Fida Bahadur (1335), for Member Executive Punjab Muhammad Umir Mohsin (1215) and Muhammad Akhtar Rana(1059) and for Member Executive Sindh Jan Ali Junejo and Syed Zulfiqar Shah were declared as winning candidates.
