ISLAMABAD – President DR Arif Alvi has said the government’s landmark policy of ease of doing business is another opportunity for the business community to exhibit local products in international market. Addressing the “Heroes of Gujranwala” award ceremony to honour the services of business community, academia and others important personalities in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said industrialists should be more focused on exporting value added products for revenue generation. The president urged the business community to create awareness and provide guidance to the women and differently-abled persons on government’s welfare initiatives to help achieve the desired objectives. The president said government has taken sufficient steps to help women and people with disabilities to start their own businesses.
He, however, said that more coordinated efforts are needed as no country can flourish without the contribution of women in economy. The president said owing to lack of awareness, the amount specified by the banks for business loans to women remained under-utilised. He said the business sector could support the women to prepare loan feasibility to put them on the track of financial independence.
