KARACHI:
An aircraft of India’s Indigo Airlines made an emergency landing at Karachi airport late on Sunday due to a technical problem. The carrier was travelling from Sharjah, UAE to Hyderabad Deccan in India.
An emergency landing was requested from the Arabian Sea when the plane developed a technical problem. The captain of the flight sought permission from the Karachi Air Traffic control and safely landed the aircraft at 2:20 am.
According to the sources, this is the fourth flight from India that landed at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport this month.
Sources further stated that the Indian passengers from this flight have been transferred to the transit lounge of the airport and were also provided with breakfast by the authorities. The passengers will be sent to Hyderabad Deccan by an alternative flight by 3 pm.
Officials said that the plane was an Airbus 320 which had 180 passengers on board.

Earlier this month, the Indian low-cost airline SpiceJet’s passenger plane also made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport, the least expected destination for Indian passengers due to not so smooth political situation between the two South Asian neighbours.
The Indian passenger plane landed at the Jinnah International Airport at 09:17 am on July 5, due to an engine malfunction after obtaining permission, the Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) spokesperson said.
Pilots of Boeing 373 flying from Delhi to Dubai realised during their flight that one of their fuel tanks was indicating an error. The plane contacted the control tower in Karachi and it was allowed to land on Pakistani soil.
