QUETTA:
At least 22 people were killed after a passenger bus fell into a ditch in the Akhtarzai area on the Quetta – Zhob National Highway in Balochistan’s Qila Saifullah district.
Hafiz Muhammad Qasim Kakar, the deputy commissioner Qila Saifullah told The Express Tribune that rescue workers have recovered 22 dead bodies from the site of the incident. One child was seriously injured in the accident.

Kakar added that the passenger van was going from Loralai to Zhob when it fell into a deep ravine in the Akhtarzai area of the district.

Local tribesmen and personnel of the Medical Emergency Response Center reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a nearby medical facility. The deputy commissioner mentioned that 12 of the victims belonged to the same family.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo expressed grief and sorrow over the deadly accident and directed the administration to support the heirs of the victims.
In a statement issued soon after the incident, Bizenjo directed the administration to ensure the provision of proper medical treatment to the child who was seriously injured.
Earlier, at least three persons were killed and more than ten injured when a coaster heading from Gilgit to Rawalpindi plunged into a ravine near Matta Banda in the Upper Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Express News, a coaster carrying passengers met with an unfortunate accident and as a result, three persons died on the spot while the condition of more than 10 injured people is said to be critical.
Rescue workers said the injured have been shifted to Abbottabad for immediate medical treatment.
