ISLAMABAD – The spokesperson of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and JUI leader Hafiz Hamdullah has urged government to stop threatening Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
In his recent statement over the conduct of Federal Minister Fawad Hussain and Shibli Faraz, Hafiz Hamdullah said that government was trying to pressurise ECP through their statements. He said that instead of threatening and pressurising ECP, the ministers must reply to notices of the Commission.
Hamdullah maintained that ECP had raised genuine reservations over electronic voting machine (EVM) and electoral reforms which was its constitutional duty. He said that instead of answering the questions and reservations of ECP, the ministers blamed ECP for taking bribes and termed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) a mouthpiece of opposition, he added.
He stated that PDM wanted ECP as an independent institution and will continue its efforts for this cause.
