Haripur – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Prisons, Khalid Abbas said on Friday that a first ever training academy of the KP Prisons Department would be functional in Haripur district within the next few weeks, with the aim of building the capacity of the staff on modern techniques of dealing with inmates and security.
During a visit to Haripur jail and the academy’s building, Khalid Abbas said the academy was the first and only training facility where the watch and ward staff of the Prisons Department from the entire province would be imparted trainings in line with modern requirement of dealing with prisoners, their reformation, and security of the prisons.
The IG also planted a sapling in the lawn of the training academy and visited different barracks, kitchens, and industrial areas of the jail and listened to the prisoners.
