LAHORE – Two independently elected councillors from Sargodha cantonment Chaudhry Tauqeer Ashraf Gujjar and Rai Umar Farooq Kharal called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Saturday and announced to join the PML-Q.
General Secretary PML Punjab Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Vice President Chaudhry Sarfraz Gondal were present on the occasion besides Rai Shah Nawaz Kharal, Haji Zahid Akhtar and Faisal Ghuman. Welcoming the councillors on joining the party, Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi said peoples’ problems should solved at their door steps.
The Local Government system should be such that it benefits the common man at the grassroots level, he said. He was confident that new system will be effective in reducing basic problems of the public,he added. He further stated: “The prosperity of the society depends on the provision of basic amenities to the people”.
On this occasion, Ch Tauqeer Ashraf said: “We appreciate the leadership abilities of Chaudhry Shujat Hussain. Pakistan Muslim League has always fought for the rights of common man. The era of Ch Parvez Elahi as the Chief Minister is a living example of this; people still remember this era, he added.
