ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has threatened to boycott the Local Governments elections and demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
While addressing a media talk at his residence here yesterday, Fazl said that they will never accept the LG elections, adding that they will discuss the matter with their legal experts very soon. Lashing out at the decision of ECP for holding the LG elections in KP, Maulana Fazl ur Rehman said that their stance about the 2018 general elections was already clear, saying that the incumbent government itself was the product of rigging and would never accept LG elections which are scheduled to be held under the supervision of this ‘fake’ government.
He went on to say that boycotting the LG elections was an option discussed by the PDM leadership. About the appointment of Director General (DG) Inter Service Intelligence (ISI), the PDM chief said that delay in the appointment of this appointment was a face saving for Imran Khan.
While commenting on the issue of TLP protests, he said that holding a peaceful protest was the constitutional right of TLP, adding that the way the government dealt with them was brutal and undemocratic.
He also said that there was no justification for the incumbent government to stop TLP from holding protest when they themselves had held 126-day of sit-in in Islamabad during the Nawaz Sharif government.
Responding to a question regarding the Baluchistan political situation, Maulana Fazl said that his party will never go for any alliance with PTI or Baluchistan Awami Party (BAP) to form government in the province.
