Bahawalpur – Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab Capt (retd) Saqib Zafar has said that the Civil Secretariat is mobilised to play its full role for good governance in South Punjab and provide relief to the people at their doorstep. He said that visits to the districts of South Punjab have been started to check the performance of the officers in all the sectors in all the districts.
In case of development budget lapse, the concerned officers will be questioned. He said that the government has issued strict instructions to curb illicit profiteering. He asked all the Deputy Commissioners of South Punjab to launch a crackdown on illicit profiteers and hoarders and no concession should be made in this regard. The meeting was attended by administrative secretaries of South Punjab departments. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi briefed the meeting about the ongoing measures in all sectors of the district.

He said that the farmers should be provided opportunities to sell their produce directly in the market. He said that approval has been given to build a large livestock research centre in Jahangirabad. He directed to intensify vaccination and anti-dengue campaign and said that vacancies of doctors in government health centres in the district would be filled. Secretary P&D South Punjab Shoaib Iqbal said that he worked on development projects in Khanewal district.
The pace is very good. DC Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi while giving a briefing said that a record 1,004 development projects have been started in the district for which Rs2,384 million have been released while 398 development projects have been completed. New projects are being launched to solve sewerage problems.
He said that market visits were being carried out to monitor the prices of essential commodities. In September, 137 illicit profiteers were arrested while cases were registered against 47 vendors. Hundreds of sacks of sugar and rice were recovered from the suspects. The DC said that 1,264,222 people have been vaccinated against corona in Khanewal district.
Similarly, the campaign against dengue and polio is continuing successfully. Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said that Khidmat-e-Aapki is at the top in Khanewal province in terms of public satisfaction with the performance of the programme.
