ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has said it will launch anti-government protests across the country from October 20 (tomorrow).
The schedule for the anti-government protests was finalised in a meeting of PDM chaired by its chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman here yesterday. The meeting was attended by leaders of all opposition parties part of the PDM. Talking to media after the meeting, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that anti-government protests will start from October 20 across the country.
Lashing out at government, he said that Imran Khan had no clue about how to stop the rising inflation, saying that masses through protests should get rid of this ‘failed’ regime of Imran Khan.He said that all parties were given tasks to hold meetings on provincial level, saying that opposition parties will mobilise their workers to hold a strong resistance against the government.
Maulana Fazl said that opposition parties will never accept so-called electoral reforms proposed by the government, saying that PDM’s only goal was to hold free and fair elections without meddling of any other institution.Rejecting EVM, Fazl said that EVM was a tactic to rig elections. He said that EVM was the substitute of RTS which failed in the previous general elections.
About the NAB Ordinance, he said that NAB ordinance was already rejected by the opposition parties, adding that NAB was the institution used by the incumbent government against the opposition parties to push them against the wall. Maulana also demanded the government to reopen borders with Iran and Afghanistan because thousands of poor people on both sides of the border were facing immense problems.
