ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a joint opposition alliance, has extended the deadline until next month to finalise its ‘final strategy’ to overthrow the PTI-led government.
“All constituent parties will present their recommendations during a meeting of top leadership on December 6 and then final policy along with important announcements will be made,” PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Tuesday.
He was addressing a press conference in Islamabad following the meeting of PDM constituent party leaders, which failed to evolve consensus on long march and en masse resignations from assemblies to topple Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government.
Fazl said the anti-government alliance will “soon” move towards toppling the PTI government to “rid the nation of tyranny”.
The chief of JUI-F also took an aim at the government for “bulldozing” laws related to overseas Pakistanis’ voting rights, electronic voting machine (EVM) and others during a recently-held joint sitting of the parliament.

“By passing these laws government tried to strip Election Commission of Pakistan of its powers… the laws are against the Constitution,” he added.
Fazl termed the use of EVMs in the next general elections as “pre-poll rigging”, saying the entire world had stopped the use of this technology.
“This government committed a historic fraud with the youth of the country by promising to give 10 million jobs,” he said, adding that in the same way, the PTI government’s move to give expats voting rights was nothing but an attempt to rig next elections.
“We consider overseas Pakistanis an asset of the country… we will introduce our own legislation as per law and Constitution,” he added.
On leaked audio conversation of former chief justice Saqib Nisar and affidavit of ex-top judge of Gilgit-Baltistan top court Rana Shamim, Fazl said the revelations raised question over the independence of judiciary.
“Judiciary needs to restore their own credibility through their act,” he said. “Conspiracies that were hatched to oust former premier [Nawaz Sharif] and others were actually the conspiracies against the country and democracy,” the JUI-F chief said.
