ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the interior Minister sheikh Rashid Ahmed to hold talks with TLP without compromising the national interest and writ of the state.
Sources told The Nation that interior minister briefed the cabinet meeting about progress in talks with TLP so far and said TLP has demanded the closure of the French embassy and expulsion of the French ambassador.
Cabinet rejected the demands of TLP and decided not to compromise the writ of the state, national interests and foreign policy.
Cabinet was briefed about possible negative consequences if TLP demands are accepted at a time when Pakistan has been placed again at grey list of FATF where France is also a member. Cabinet rejected TLP demand of closing French embassy.
The cabinet approved the deployment of rangers to deal with TLP march. Sources said it was decided to deal with violent elements with iron hand.
The cabinet meeting decided to use all resources to prevent the march of TLP towards Islamabad.
