ISLAMABAD – The core committee of ruling PTI has reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and said the government is not short of its numbers in the Parliament.
The core committee met with the prime minister in the chair and discussed the prevailing political situation and challenges being faced by the government. The committee vowed to uphold the supremacy of the constitution at any cost and made it clear that political issues would be handled politically.
Credible sources said the core committee discussed the challenges posed by the opposition and decided to counter the opposition’s propaganda against the government.
Speaking to the committee, the prime minister said the government is not scared of the opposition’s tactics, however, as a good gesture PTI wanted consensus on the election reforms bill which is why a letter has been written by the national assembly speaker to opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif.
Talking to journalists in Islamabad after the PTI core committee meeting, Minister for Information Ch Fawad Hussain admitted that the salaried class in cities across the country were feeling the economic situation, however, at the same time, there are many segments of the society where their income has seen a considerable increase.
The minister said that the government will now provide relief to those sectors which had been severely impacted by inflation.
“The whole world was suffering from an increase in prices due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on economic situation”, Fawad Ch said.
The meeting decided to convene a joint session of the Parliament as soon as the consensus is reached on the EVM bill.
