ISLAMABAD – Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has not so far responded to lower house of Indian Parliament Lok Sabha’s invitation to attend centenary celebrations of Public Accounts Committee of Indian Parliament being held on 4th and 5th December 2021 in New Delhi. The invitation was extended to the Chairman Senate by Speaker of the Lok Sabha OM Birla. In his invitation letter, Mr Birla informed the chairman Senate that centenary celebrations of PAC would be inaugurated by President of India Mr Ram Nath Kovind. A senior official told The Nation that foreign invitations extended to the Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate are responded to by the host government in coordination with foreign office which advises keeping in view the nature of bilateral relations with any specific country. The Foreign Office is yet to reply to the Chairman Senate office about the invitation, however, sources indicated that keeping in view the prevailing level of mistrust between the two countries, Foreign Office is expected to advise “negatively” to the Senate of Pakistan. The Chairman Senate would also discuss the matter with Prime Minister Imran Khan and get advice from him.
