PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police are seeking a second person in a drive-by shooting that took the life of a 1-year-old at the height of Memorial Day weekend in downtown Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the department’s violent crime unit had issued a warrant for the arrest of 23-year-old Markez Anger in the Sunday afternoon killing of De’Avry Thomas. The charges will include criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy and firearms offenses, officials said.
A listed number for Anger couldn’t be found Tuesday, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney; the Allegheny County public defender’s office, which represented him in a previous case, declined to comment.
Authorities earlier announced homicide and criminal conspiracy charges against 26-year-old Londell Falconer in the case. Authorities said in a criminal complaint that he initially denied involvement in the case but later said he was the driver of the vehicle from which shots were fired.
Police said the child was pronounced dead at the scene after he was shot at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday at an intersection not far from Market Square and the PPG Place complex. Investigators have said that neither the child nor his mother were the intended target.

Relatives gathered Monday evening to remember the child, with lighted candles surrounding a collage of pictures as they released balloons in his honor.
Kahlil Darden, the child’s godfather, told WTAE-TV that he was “a fun kid.”
“Everybody who ran into him reacted to him, loved him. The type of person that he was, he lit up a room,” Darden said, remembering “his smile, his energy, his love for people.”
Amya Thomas, the child’s paternal aunt, said the child “was getting to that age where he was able to do more.”
“He was becoming fun, just learning and experiencing new things with him,” she said. “We’ll never get the opportunity.”
