Video shows several people, including elderly, trapped in a roof deck of the World Trade Centre building in Causeway Bay.
Several people are trapped in Hong Kong’s World Trade Centre following a fire on Wednesday, according to several news reports.
According to the Hong Kong Free Press, the fire is still ongoing and the alarm level has been raised as firefighters try to rescue several people using emergency ladders.
It is believed that the fire broke out on the building’s first floor where renovations are ongoing.
A video posted on social media by Citizen News showed more than a dozen people, including elderly, trapped in a roof deck on the fifth floor of the building.
Citizen News also reported that there were as many as 100 people waiting to be rescued earlier.
Another video posted by the South China Morning Post showed at least eight people being rescued by firefighters as smoke rose from a lower floor area.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
