A man and his son are dead after the car they were traveling in crashed with another vehicle and ended up in a pond in central Massachusetts, according to authorities.The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office said the crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. Friday on Uxbridge Road, also known as Route 16, in Mendon.The collision happened near Alicante Restaurant & Lounge and one of the vehicles involved then crashed into Nipmuc Pond. The two occupants of that vehicle did not survive, the DA’s Office said.Authorities confirmed the two victims were father and son, but their identities are not being released at this time because family members who are outside the country have yet to be notified.The DA’s Office did not provide any information about the second vehicle involved in the crash, but NewsCenter 5’s cameras spotted a large truck that was carrying cars parked in the middle of the road at the crash scene late Friday night. That truck remained at the scene until about 4:45 a.m. Saturday.There is no word on whether the driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash will be facing any charges.The crash is being investigated by Mendon police, state police and state police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
