PLEASANT VIEW, TN (WSMV) – Children discovered the remains of an adult male in Cheatham County on Sunday afternoon, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed.
The unidentified children found the body of a man was found in a cave in a wooded area near Jere Court in Pleasant View, TBI said.
“It is really odd because Pleasant View has been called like the second safest city in Tennessee, so hearing body parts in the woods isn’t something you hear every day,” resident Brian Flauto said.
TBI officials added that they are assisting the Pleasant View Police Department in the ongoing investigation. In addition, authorities will conduct an autopsy on the remains “to determine the identity of this individual.”
Flauto has lived here seven years and said it’s a nice, tight-knit neighborhood. But, he said something like this is highly abnormal.
“Very quiet folks all know each other, wave when people go by, very little crime,” Flauto said.
It’s unclear how long the remains have been there—leaving residents with more questions than answers.
“Did someone take a body into the cave or just naturally or unnaturally pass away there,” Flauto said.
This is an ongoing investigation, and we will update the story as we receive information.
