The Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi that released a while back has been unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a strong note, the business of the film witnessed immense growth over its opening weekend and first week as well. Later over its second weekend in theatres the business of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial saw yet another growth in collections thanks to the relaxation of pandemic protocols.
Now after just 10 days in theatres the film has managed to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark. Collecting Rs. 102.60 cr in 13 days of its release Gangubai Kathiawadi has become the first film of 2022 to cross the highly coveted Rs. 100 cr mark. Interestingly, despite new releases the business of the film has not seemed to have slowed down, in fact, with the lack lustre performance of the newer releases, Gangubai Kathiawadi has received a new lease on life in theatres. This coupled with the fact that theatres have been allowed 100% occupancy it is expected that the collections of the film will see further growth.
Currently, Gangubai Kathiawadi still continued to enjoy the audiences’ favour remaining as their first choice in theatres. However, with the Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam set to release this Friday followed by the Akshay Kumar starrer Bachchhan Paandey the following week it remains to be seen whether the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi manages to hold strong. Given the current scenario trade predictions are rather optimistic for the film’s collections.
