The much-talked-about and highly-hyped Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 was released a week ago. Enjoying a massive screen count and an extended four-day weekend the business of the film took off to a flying start. After fast crossing the Rs. 100 cr mark, KGF 2 blew past the Rs. 200 cr mark in 5 days, following it up by cross Rs. 250 cr by the end of day 7. Now at the close of its first week in theatres, the business of KGF – Chapter 2 has proved to be unstoppable.

In this box office report, we look at the opening week collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting Rs. 268.63 cr, KGF 2 has surpassed the collections of the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion which had collected Rs. 247 cr to become the second all-time highest opening week grosser. If that wasn’t all, while the business of KGF 2 does not manage to surpass the collections of the Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff starrer War that collections Rs. 298.35 cr, it manages to surpass the collections of other big-ticket releases like Sultan which collected Rs. 229.16 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs. 206.04 cr, Sanju which collected Rs. 202.51 cr, Dangal which collected Rs. 195.54 cr, Dhoom 3 which collected Rs. 188.99 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan which collected Rs. 184.62 cr, and PK which had collected Rs. 183.09 cr.

Currently still running in theatres, KGF – Chapter 2 looks set to enjoying a money-spinning second weekend. In fact, trade predictions claim that the business of the film will continue to see growth despite the new release in the form of the Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey hitting screens. Given the current trend, KGF 2 is expected to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark by the end of its second weekend.
