Nowshera – A provincial lawmaker, Liaqat Khattak, has warned to quit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) membership and resign from the provincial assembly seat if his grievances were not redressed by Prime Minister Imran Khan within two weeks.
Addressing a gathering of supporters in Manki Sharif village, he said if he resigned the party and KP Assembly, Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak and MNA Imran Khattak would not be able to win elections in the area. The event was also addressed by former tehsil nazim Ahad Khattak, who is son of Liaqat Khattak, and others.
Liaqat Khattak, who is younger brother of Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and uncle of MNA Imran Khattak, had called himself a powerless minister for irrigation and had demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to meet him.
But instead of getting time from the PM, Liaqat Khattak was removed from the ministry, after the PTI candidate Mian Umar lost a by-election on PK-6, Nowshera seat, to Ikhtiar Wali Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
He said that through the police force, he and his supporters were harassed with registration of fake cases in the recent cantonment board elections.
Liaqat Khattak said that if Imran Khan did not listen to him, then he would follow his supporters’ decision regarding which party to join.
