Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance and economic support to Afghanistan to avert twin challenges of humanitarian crisis and economic collapse.
He was talking to the Special Representatives and Envoys for Afghanistan of the Troika Plus, comprising China, Russia, United States, and Pakistan, who called on him in Islamabad today.
Imran Khan hoped that the international community would recognize the gravity of the situation and take urgent measures, including the release of frozen assets to help alleviate the suffering of Afghan people.
He highlighted the crucial role of Troika Plus in this context.
The Prime Minister urged the need to have a pragmatic approach and constructive engagement with Afghanistan to address mutual concerns and promote the common interests of Troika Plus countries.
Imran Khan said he has consistently stressed that there is no military solution in Afghanistan.
In the changing environment, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of inclusivity, respect for human rights, and resolute counter-terrorism actions.
