SO MANY PEOPLE THAT I SPOKE WITH YSA THEY ARE DEVASTATED BECAUSE IN LESS TNHA 15 DAYS THEY SAY THEY’RE GOING TO BE HOMELESS. THERE’S NO HOUSING AVAABILLE FOR THESE PEOPLE DOZENS OF TENANTS AT RIDGE ESTATES OF HAMMOND AND FRUSTRATED AFTER THEY GOT THIS LETTER SAYING BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE FROM HURRICANE, IDA, THEY NEED TO MOVE OUT HOW MANY OF YOU ALL HAVE RECEIVED. NOTICE OF EVICTION IF YOU JUST WANT TO RAISE YOUR HAND REAL QUICK. SO EVERYBODY WHO IS RAISING THEIR HAND HAS RECEIVED SOME SORT OF EVICTION. AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA WREHE YOU’RE GOING TO GO. Dozens of renters in one Hammond neighborhood said they’re being evicted from their homes.The renters said they just got letters from the property owners saying Hurricane Ida damaged the units so badly that it’s unlivable. Tenants at the Ridge Estates of Hammond said they have no idea where they are going to go. Many feel their homes are livable and want answers. Tensions boiled over outside the Ridge Estates of Hammond and police showed up to calm things down.WDSU reached out to the owners multiple times and has not heard back.Click the video above for the story.
