The much talked about and keenly anticipated release Brahmastra hit screens a week ago. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film, which has been the talk of the town, came with immense hopes, and expectations. Living upto the same, Brahmastra that hit over 5000 screens in India opened on a good note. Following this, the Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer that enjoyed a good rate of advance bookings and positive audience feedback witnessed even further growth over its opening weekend.

In this box office report, we look at the opening week collections of Brahmastra while comparing the same to Ayan Mukerji’s previous releases. Not surprisingly, Brahmastra which enjoyed one of the widest releases ever managed to draw in Rs. 170.20 cr to emerge as Ayan’s highest opening week grosser. In fact, the business of the film manages to surpass the collections of his previous directorials like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which collected Rs. 107.61 cr, and Wake Up Sid which collected Rs. 15.68 cr.

As of now, Brahmastra, which enjoys an unopposed run at the box office, sees little to no competition from newer releases. Given the trend the film is enjoying, trade estimates state that the business of Brahmastra will continue to see further growth. In fact, predictions say that Brahmastra will see a spike in collections over its second weekend running.
