The much talked about and keenly anticipated Christmas release Cirkus hits screens today. Directed by Rohit Shetty starring Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, and Varun Sharma the film was touted to be one of the biggest releases of 2022, with industry buzz stating that Cirkus could well become one of the biggest money-spinners of the year as well. However, it seems like the film has started on the back foot, with reports claiming that Cirkus has opened on a disastrously sluggish note.

Going by early reports, Cirkus has seen a staggeringly low occupancy rate of just 15% over the morning and early afternoon shows. This low-key occupancy is attributed to the fact that the makers of the film faced issues with the screen-sharing ratio, especially with the James Cameron directorial Avatar: The Way of Water occupying a major number of screens. This resulted in a rather low rate of advance bookings for Cirkus as well. Now, with the screen-sharing ratio issue resolved, expectations are that the film could see an increase in footfalls over late afternoon, evening, and night shows.

Sadly, with the lackluster occupancy Cirkus has seen over morning shows and average reviews all across, trade estimates that the opening day business of the film will certainly be affected. In fact, as the current trend indicates, Cirkus could see shockingly low collections of below Rs. 10 cr. on Day 1.
