Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G is showing a good trend at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the movie has shown a jump of 25 to 30 percent on Saturday as the film seems to have collected in the range of Rs. 4.75 to Rs 5.15 crores. With this, the two-day total of Doctor G stands at Rs. 8.50 crore plus.
Another jump of about 15 percent will come on Sunday and Doctor G will be targeting a weekend total of slightly under Rs. 15 crore. This is a decent result for a film that was released without any aggressive marketing or pre-release buzz. To note, it was also devoid of any hit music and all that worked for the film is the theatrical trailer.
The jump has come in the national multiplex chains, though even mass belts have managed to stay at the same level as Friday. The onus is now on the movie to show some sort of hold on Monday and thereon record a decent trend to hit the Rs. 30 to 35 crore mark in the long run until the two big Diwali releases arrive.
Doctor G is trending better than all the Ayushmann Khurrana releases in the pandemic times and the hope is for the actor to gain momentum from hereon and just grow from strength to strength. The positive word of mouth and jump on Day 2 has brought a ray of hope for the industry to back good concept mid-budget entertaining films.
