The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial starring Alia Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawadi finally hit screens. After much talk the film opened to a thunderous response from the audience and critics alike. With positive reviews and strong word of mouth the business of the film saw immense growth over its opening weekend collecting Rs. 47.31 cr. Interestingly, Gangubai Kathiawadi that faced competition from the south releases Valimai and Bheemla Nayak managed to hold its own, emerging as the leader at the box office window.

In fact, when compared to other big ticket Bollywood releases that hit screens post the second lockdown, Gangubai Kathiawadi has done rather well. In fact, the film has managed to surpass the opening day collections of the Ranveer Singh starrer 83 that released in December last year. Collecting Rs. 7.29 cr., 83 comes in third place with the first spot taken by the Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi that had collected Rs. 14.51 cr.

As for Gangubai Kathiawadi, the film enjoys a rather positive trend, and will see its collections increase over the coming week. As per estimates, the overall business of the film which will certain go past the Rs. 50 cr mark today could easily cross the Rs. 100 cr. mark if the current momentum is maintained.
