Waste Management has filed a motion in Hinds Circuit Court to dismiss its complaint against the city of Jackson and Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba.Earlier this month, the city filed a motion to dismiss the complaint filed by Waste Management. The company filed suit in an effort to force contract negotiations with the city since council members rejected Richard Disposal’s bid for service. Lumumba filed a lawsuit of his own last week against the Jackson City Council. The mayor wants a judge to intervene after the council voted to block his emergency garbage collection contract with Richard’s Disposal. The mayor signed the emergency order last month. It gives Richard’s Disposal a one-year contract with the city.
